Song Review | Drizzy Dre | ChristLike

I recently sat down with Drizzy Dre for the “Independent Artists Spotlight” interview.  The interview was packed full of great insight into who Drizzy Dre is.  During our conversation we spoke about the viral CHH cypher he put together called “The Ballot” The Ballot is a representation of Drizzy Dre “for President” along with several of the top CHH artists from Dallas, Texas running for office.  It features Adrion Butler, Wil Martin, J.Woodz, Kingg Chosen, Brittanee, DLane, and That Boy Bean.

It was an easy showcase of Drizzy’s talent. It makes you want to rep the D-Town no matter where you’re from.  In the end everyone came with the bars and the Christians showed up for Dallas and the Christian Hip Hop scene.  Make sure you check out his independent artist spotlight here.

I was excited to dig into reviewing Drizzy’s first single “ChristLike” in anticipation of his highly anticipated EP, “Hood Saint” expected to release sometime next year.  Drizzy revealed to me that he was new to CHH and to rapping for God.  However, you could never tell after listening to “ChristLike” and watching the official music video.  When the song first comes on Drizzy goes right in spittin bars and setting the tone for the song.  After the first verse you hear the catchy hook “Living Christ-Like is the way of life. If you ain’t got him, you ain’t even in the fight”. I loved that it was vibey and simple. It captured my attention right away.

In my interview with Drizzy, I mentioned a line from the song and I asked him to elaborate.  The line was “God took a fool and made me a conscious man”.  Drizzy revealed that it came from part of his testimony when he was released from jail and God finally got his attention.  Again, I urge you to listen to the entire interview.  Drizzy gave out a lot of encouragement for anyone going through something similar to what he went through.  Throughout the interview, Drizzy kept his uplifting spirit, stating his eternal gratification for where God brought him from and where He  is leading him now. In the end Drizzy reminds us “Christ-life is the only way of life” and I couldn’t agree with him more.
