For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10 NLT

We all love classics. No matter what your hobby is or the types of recreational activities you’re in to we all love classics. We love new stuff too, but there’s a difference when it’s classic. A vintage piece that you can celebrate because of its longevity. Like for me, I just got a new car 9 months ago. I love my car, but there are times I miss the old one. The new car is better, faster and has a lot more bells and whistles. Even still, sometimes I miss the old one because I spent so much time with it and made it mine. I’m doing that now with the new car, but there’s a difference between months and years spent.

As much as we like new stuff there’s something special about things we’ve spent time with and have had around for a long time. There are things that we keep around too long and though we are attached they have to go. Then there are other things that help us to feel comfortable in who we are and help us to do what we do more effectively. You have that favorite pen you like to write with or those favorite pair of shoes. They not only look good on you, but they fit your foot just right from all of the times you’ve worn them. The commonality is they are all used.

That term is interesting, because it usually has a negative connotation to it. People typically use that term to say that you’ve been taken advantage of. They say “Oh that person used you for what you had to get what they wanted.” This is a correct way to use it, but it’s not the only way to use it. We have to put ourselves to use in a way that is useful to us, to others and to God. That may be something that we’re not used to. I’m having a little fun with words there, but I hope you get the picture.

We as people Christian or not are looking for purpose and destiny. At the core of that is being used. Not being taken advantage of, but used for a purpose that is beneficial. As you’re being used you find fulfillment in fulfilling your purpose in God. The devil wants to use you so he can take advantage of you and spit in the face of God. God wants to use you as his vessel for His glory to bless His people and build His kingdom. We’re apart of that kingdom. The more the kingdom is built the more of a blessing it is to us as citizens.

Being used by God doesn’t get us thrown away. God shines up our good works for Him and places them as trophies in Glory. Just as He did in the beginning with creation He looks at them and says, “It is good.” Then on that great day when we stand before His throne we will hear Him say, “We’ll done good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord.” In God’s eyes we will be a classic piece of work.

That leads us to our Throwback Song of the Week. We’re headed over to the west coast to a group, that even though they’re not together any more, they are still having an impact on the culture. Most of us are familiar with Ruslan and Beleaf. They started out together in a group called TheBreax and dropped a ton of music in the late 2000’s. They also had a 3rd member named Mic B. To me I looked at Dream Junkies as TheBreax 2.0. This track is from their 2009 album called “Restocked 1.5.” The featured track is called “Classic Music.” Tune into the Trackstarz show this Saturday to hear DJ Jeremaya spin this for the Throwback Song of the Day. Until next time…

Peace and blessings,

Damo
