“By Your spirit, I will rise from the ashes of defeat; the Resurrected King is resurrecting me”. The words to this song have been hitting me so hard this past week. God has been wrecking my heart, in that we possess the very same power that Jesus had. Jesus was raised from the dead, and we have that very same power running through us, even today. John 14:12 rallies us on, saying, “I am telling you the truth: those who believe in me will do what I do–yes, they will do even greater things, because I am going to the Father.” This strikes me because if Jesus was perfect and did all of these miracles, then how can we do greater things while being imperfect people? The answer is because we have the DNA of Almighty God running through our veins. Just because we are in a sinful world, that DOES NOT mean that we have to bow down to our sinful nature.
I firmly believe that the Bible is truly inspired by God. When it tells us that the same power that rose Jesus from the dead lives in us, (Romans 8:11) that is not taken lightly. It means that because of the Holy Spirit in us, we can walk victoriously through this life, spreading the light of Christ to the world. I was thinking about this today: Since we have the light of Christ in us, we cannot let anything take our shine away. We should be so bold in who we are in Christ that nothing can shake us or move us from that humble position. We are children of God.
In the society we live in, comparison is so easily found, especially in the realm of social media. The amount of likes and followers draws us to doctor up our lives so that we can show the world the best highlight. I see it in myself, to be honest with you all. I want to obtain more notoriety for my writing, but I have to realize that I only need to focus on showing people to Jesus, who is the Gift Giver. He is the One who gave me the ability to write. It is not about the followers or people that comment reactions to my content. It is all about making Jesus famous.
I say that to say this. If our aim is to please God with our lives, and we hunger after Him alone, He will show up in ways we could never imagine. We would see miracles like never before. I feel so strongly about this, that we do not have to bow down or be enslaved to our sin. We can be people who wholeheartedly seek after the Father and live with the daily mindset that we have the same power that Jesus had living inside of us. That does not mean that we are cocky because of this, but rather we are humbled that such a gift has been given to us. “It is only by His grace that we can stand” (Romans 5:2).
I pray that we go about our days with peace in what God has done for us; strength to withstand temptation when it tries to defeat us, and power to press towards the mark that is set for us. I also pray that we will realize the power that is within us, so that we may boldly speak about what has been done for us. If anyone needs prayer or encouragement for anything at all, please feel free to comment, message me on any social media (@ryanmw92).
Much Love,
