Last Saturday, there was a concert called “The Pull Up Concert” at Stonecrest Mall in Atlanta, Georgia, in which 1K Phew was supposed to perform a few of his songs. Unfortunately, the concert got shut down because it was drawing attention away from the mall experience. Although 1k wasn’t able to perform, I was able to chat with him, and ask him a few questions about various topics.
Me: What was the experience like creating Hammer Time?
1K: “It was my first time recording at Reach. It felt like a home being in there. It was a lot of fun making music there. I loved the vibe that Hammer Time created.”
Me: What do you like to do besides working on music?
1K: I like to play basketball. I wouldn’t consider myself a hooper, but I still like to hoop whenever I can get the chance to.”
Me: If you could do a song with anyone, who would it be and why?
1K: I would definitely want to do a song with Drake. He is such an inspirational person so I would be super hype to do a song with him. Especially after watching his God’s Plan video, it gave me a better look into all that he does for the people, and I like that.”
When I told him that I write for Trackstarz, 1K went on to say this, “I appreciate what y’all do at Trackstarz. Y’all have really good content that I like to see.”
I wanted to make the interview more casual and conversational. 1K is a solid guy who cares about the conversations that he engages in. I know it was hard to talk to one person when a lot of other people are vying for his attention, but I appreciated him a lot for taking the time to talk to me. He has a great vision for his life outside of music, and strives to deliver content for people to enjoy.
