“So if you don’t like me I like you.
Bigger be the God in me than the devil inside of you.”
– Corey Red
I know I keep saying this, but there is so much divisiveness in our world today and that’s why I feel the need to stress the unity we are to have as Christians. In this unity there is life. While being divided is a constant cycle we have a way to combat through the love we have for one another.
While things may look bad and we have more than enough reasons to give up this is the perfect time for us to band together even stronger and life up the name of Christ. He is the one who can truly bring us together in unity. I heard a preacher say once, “If not us then who? If not now then when?” The harvest is plenteous for us now to go reap souls for the kingdom of God.
I think for too long the church has locked itself inside of the walls of a building rather than tearing down those walls to allow the lost to see the glorious things God is doing in and through us. The love we have for each other and impact we have should be visible and tangible to those who are outside of us. We are to come together to worship, to serve and be edified. Then we are to take what we receive and put it on display to the world.
We need to engage culture. Not just make pleas for people to come to church, but to do as the great commission says and go out. Jesus said to go into the world preaching the gospel, teaching and making disciples. As I’ve mentioned before the gospel was key to the civil rights movement led by Dr. King. He wasn’t telling people just to come to church. He literally took the church to the streets and made a defining impact on the world we live in.
We as believers should be looking to make an impact, not only in our church, but let that bleed into our homes, on our jobs, in our neighborhoods and the places we go. Jesus said that the Holy Spirit would give us the power to be witnesses for Him wherever we go. That power is not just for you to shout and dance on Sunday morning. Take that power home with you and on your job on Monday morning. Let it govern your life. Let the fruit of the Holy Spirit be evident that others may know the God you serve.
It is our turn. It is our time. We need to make Jesus famous. People will know us, but more importantly they will know the God we serve and that are His children. That is what we’re doing here at Trackstarz. We are not just writing articles, playing music or informing you about your favorite artists. We are looking to bring high quality Christian content to the forefront as a draw so that people can know the Savior. Our individual relationships with Christ have brought us together in unity and we labor together with God to reach the world with his message.
That leads us to our Throwback Song of the Week. It is from the New York native and, in my opinion, one of the rawest MC’s in CHH to ever touch a mic. The one and only Corey Red. This track is from a compilation album released in 2002 called “Pure Gospel – Pure Flava’.” This was in the early days of CHH and this album was one of the many releases to try and get CHH or back then Gospel Rap exposure amongst believers. His feature on this project was entitled “It’s My Turn.” Hard hitting boom-bap east coast beat and Corey Red’s hard hitting lyrics. Make sure you tune into this week’s episode of Trackstarz to hear DJ Jeremaya spin this on the 1’s and 2’s. Of course you can hit the link below as well. Check it out and let us know what you think. Until next time…
Peace and blessings
