“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭1:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I’ve been talking about unity a lot. I think one of the undertones of that topic and the Christian walk in general is perseverance. God never designed this walk to be easy. God constantly reminds us in His word that we must endure all kinds of temptations, trials and tests. From the day you are born until the day you die your life will be full of them. It is our reliance on God that strengthens us to get us over these bumps in the road of life.

Steve Harvey has a saying that the road to success is always under construction. In other words, in this life we’re never a finished product, so it is a must that we keep working to get that road complete. Paul said that Christ who has begun a good work in us is able to complete it. When we accepted Christ as Lord and savior in our hearts we were made right with God. We were justified. Made just as if we never sinned against God. Now we are in the process of working out that salvation God has so graciously given us.

Other religions work to earn salvation, favor and even mercy from God. Christianity is different. We are not trying to earn anything from God. We work and serve out of gratitude for what Christ has already done for us on the cross. He has pardoned us from our sins through His death on the cross. Now we have access to a relationship with God. He has made us in Christ to do good works and we strive daily to be more like Christ.

We work and strive to get what God has put in us out. Not to earn cool points with God. God knows we’re imperfect and that we’ll fall and make mistakes, but we have to get back up and keep pushing for the prize that God has for us. Again, when I say prize it’s not that we are trying to earn something from God. It’s the actualization of what He has started in us through Christ. We’re going back to garden in Genesis.

Before sin came into the picture we were made in the image and likeness of God. Sinless and pure before God. Christ came to get us back to that original image and likeness. When it’s all said and done that’s what we’ll be. When we see Him again we will be like Him. This is why we call it good news. Sin desires to destroy us. God desires to redeem us and to have us spend eternity with Him. To be one again with God is our motivation to keep pressing forward in our walk with God for the cause of Christ.

That leads us to our Throwback Song of the Week. It is from a female CHH veteran. Her name is Mahogany Jones. This is from her 2008 album entitled “Morphed.” The name of the featured song is “Keep On.” It’s a reminder for us to keep pressing forward in our walk with God. Make sure to tune into Trackstarz this Saturday to hear DJ Jeremaya spin this one for the Throwback Song of the Day. Check it out and let us know what you think. Until next time…

Peace and blessings
