Hello everyone!
My name is Ryan Whitehead. You could say that I am a new writer for Trackstarz. I am so honored to have this opportunity, and I believe God has some amazing things planned for us all. I thought that it would only be right if my first topic to write about would be about Passion and Purpose. I think this is so fitting, because I am very passionate about music and about writing. So let’s jump right into it…
Two words have been on my mind heavily these past few months: Passion and Purpose. A lot of people, especially older, tell me that it is necessary for me to find my passion if I am going to live in my purpose. That statement honestly scares me, because those two words aren’t just play around words. We are talking about real life here. So two questions came to my mind: How do I find what I am passionate about? And: How can I live with purpose? I want to answer those questions in detail. For the first question, How does one find what they are passionate about?
Webster’s defines passion as “an intense desire or enthusiasm for something.” Focusing on the words “intense desire,” I realize that there is a substantial difference between liking to do something and having that intense desire for that something. When you are truly passionate about something, there is a peace that you have while working at it. The crazy thing is, is that God made us with these passions. It is truly mind blowing that He made us with them, not so that they end with our enjoyment, but rather for His fame and glory. I believe that we can find our deepest passions when we are digging into what God’s heart is for us, and by being around community. I have such a privilege to be a part of Passion City Church, where I serve on the College Leadership Team. I can honestly say that through this family, I have become increasingly aware of the passions God has put into my heart. So I would like to encourage everyone that community and time with the Lord are awesome ways to find the passions God has placed in your heart.
Now for the second question: How does one live with purpose? Well it seems pretty simple. When we find what makes our hearts come alive, it allows for the next step, which is finding something to do in association with it. It has been becoming more and more apparent that life is so much bigger than just doing things to get by. Why not love life and do what we love? I know I deal with that question every day. But the more I experience God and His love and desires for me, the more I see how enjoyable life is when I am living out my passions and purpose that He has blessed me with. It is easier said than done when it comes living on purpose and with purpose, but when it becomes a priority of the day, how can we not be enamored with finding it? All in all, I believe that life is supposed to be fun and full of adventure, so finding those two items are the adventure and two MAJOR KEYS for enjoying life.
