Da’ T.R.U.T.H, one of the pioneers of my time, dropped an album that has changed my way of thinking of ministry as a whole. He teamed up with the famous Dr. Ravi Zacharias and brought together two of my favorite passions, hip hop and apologetics. For those who don’t know, apologetics is a term used to identify the tactics used to defend the faith. History, science, philosophy, and others ways are available as a way to prove the existence and deity of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Da’ T.R.U.T.H puts these ideas in musical form over some of the best production I’ve heard come from him. This album must be listened to several times to really get what is being relayed. I’ll share a few of my favorites and why.
2. The Greatest Need- This song talks about the need for a messiah to make us right with God. People have asked how can good people go to hell. They often look at historical figures who stood up for peace and love as examples of “good” people. Da’ T.R.U.T.H breaks down why we need Christ.
4. Judge- I love the points that Da’ T.R.U.T.H pointed out in this track. He begins with the common discussion of not judging and how Christians are often known as judgmental. Dr. Zacharias discusses what Romans says about judging and how it effects us Christians. Then Da’ T.R.U.T.H mentions all the great movements that were started and are being carried out by the Church.
6. Religion- This is my favorite song on the album. I love the slow tempo and the internal struggle that he is talking about. There are so many religions in the world that are often said to be the same as Christianity. Is this a true statement? Listen to this song and hear how fundamentally different Christianity is all the other religious beliefs.
11. Copycat- Anyone who has taken a western civilization class might have been introduced to the idea of the accounts of creation and Christ being plagiarized from greek mythology. Da’ T.R.U.T.H speaks on how many ways people try to argue against Christ being messiah and how he wished he lived in biblical days to have a stronger faith. This song requires your attention to really catch all the facts and info given to the listener.
13. Color Purple- With the current election coming up, many Christians are struggling to find their place in the political world. Da’ T.R.U.T.H shares the struggles that many of us have. We often feel like we have to stand on the right or left wing of the political bird. We feel like we must be red or blue state. Is there a healthy balance of the two? Maybe we can be found in the color purple. You may be surprised on how much Da’ T.R.U.T.H can relate to yourself. Listen and find out.
I cannot possibly give all my thoughts on this album. The content is so powerful and awesome that you almost forget it is great music as well. As I said before, the production is great and Da’ T.R.U.T.H gives a great lyrical performance. This is a very biblical album that needs to be placed in the hands of all millennials and anyone who doubts the Christian faith. This album can be used as a teaching tool and could be used in small group discussions. Do yourself a favor and buy this album and share it. It needs to be heard and shared to everyone.
