Akeem Brodie is a Jacksonville Hip Hop artist who “was sent to spread the King’s word” and that is exactly what is represented on his debut LP Kingdom Restoration. A. Brodie released an EP of the same title late 2015. The EP included the tracks “I Need You,” “Broken Wings,” “Lessons,” “Wretch (Like Me)” and 2 remixes of “Agape Love.” This new album includes the original version of “Agape Love” and 6 new tracks. All of the songs on the album bring a vintage hip hop sound to the listener, along with a clear perspective into the life and theological views of A. Brodie.
Throughout the entire project, there is an overwhelming worship theme A. Brodie has creatively mixed with the style of rap. Whether it is songs of direct communication between A. Brodie and God or more of a one way prayer, most of the album is in one way or another showing what a solid relationship with God should look like. No matter if it’s just a song of thanks or a pleading cry of help, in one way or another you can see the connection that A. Brodie has to his Savior is very genuine. Overall this is a solid album from the indie artist and it really sets a good base for the type of artist he will grow into in the near future.
