It would be pretty hard to speak of the history of CHH and not hear or speak about Gospel Gangstaz. Armed with one of the greatest paradox names within music, they continue to represent God and the West Coast correctly. One of their defining moments within their career was the video for “I’ll be Good.” There were three key things that made this video so impactful. The first thing about the video was the visuals. Inspired by the sample of Rene & Angela’s “I’ll be good“; the production really helps set the tone, as we see the Gospel Ganstaz glorying the goodness they have received from God. The video shows how you can be saved and still have a good time as a Christian. The second thing was the features of Kirk Franklin, Nu Nation, and Trin-i-tee 5:7. It was great to see a sense of unity between all the different gospel genres represented together. The last impactful thing I remember taking from the video was the lyrics. Many critics got caught up in seeing the “flashy” things Gospel Ganstaz were doing, but they missed how the lyrics were all about Christ.
This video is fun and not only reminds me of CHH in the 90s, but having fun at family functions with the production. It’s songs and videos like this that reminds us of why Gospel Ganstaz deserves to be mentioned with the great trendsetters of this genre. At the end of the day, this video truly lives up to its name. It not only reflects how God will always keep and love us, but it’s still good after all this time! Spread The Soup!
