When we are spending alone time, either we can see it as deep rest (resting in Christ) or depression (why am I alone, nobody wants me, etc).
We need to rest in God’s impartation to us before we should share it
Why? So that we can have our foundation built on the grace and power of God in our lives.
How often do we neglect the power of God in our lives, and magnify the human condition? For instance, we say so many times “Well I am not perfect” and we justify our sins and shortcomings and lack of growth. Really, it totally is the power and grace of God. When we recognize that, we instantly lose the need to apologize for “being too spiritual.”
We need to REST in what God has told us to do. To rest, also means to act in correspondence to the Word and will of The Lord.
“4 So Abram went, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him” (Genesis 12:4). This shows a simple act by Abram. There isn’t a whole deep explanation when we hear from God. Just do it!!!
The way we find rest is by calling on the name of the Lord. In Genesis 12 and 13 we see Abram calling on the name of the Lord consistently, even when he acts out of desperation, God still is with Abram. That should show us that even when we act out of character, and when we take situations into our own hands, God is still patiently waiting saying “Rest in me. Call upon my name and I will answer (Psalm 91:15) When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.
A lot of times, we see the word ‘rest’ and we think just chilling out maxing relaxing all cool. But really, REST is being assured in God’s promises for our lives. In Genesis 13:17 and in other verses, God is consistently telling Abram to GO. We can’t stay in one place and expect to continually hear from God. We need to GO and make an impact for His fame. If we are so concerned with our relationship that we forget to show the same love to the world, how can we say we are resting and believing in God’s promise for us? We don’t see the fruit of our rest and belief until we go and “walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you” (Genesis 13:17).
