Single Review | Al Casso | “I Can Count On Jesus

I recently sat down with Christian R&B artist, Al Casso for another installment of the “Independent Artist Spotlight”.  In our full-length interview we discussed his long-standing musical journey from mainstream to Christian, his new music and his thoughts about the industry.

In our interview we joked about the vibe he gives off.  I told him he reminds me of a laid-back Bird Man/ Dr. Dre hybrid.  I thoroughly enjoyed my interview with him.  I love talking to genuine Christians that don’t believe in wavering in the faith or creating this false narrative lifestyle.

I recently reviewed his latest single “I Can Count On Jesus”  and much like his other projects, it was full of substance and the truth.  Al Casso makes music that are love ballads to Christ.  I recommend it to new-comers of the faith.  Newcomers don’t need to understand the entirety of the Word day one, but they do need to understand the simplicity of giving your life to Christ.  Songs like “I Can Count on Jesus”, “I’m Still Runnin For Jesus” ” Make Heaven Your Destiny”, and  “Fighting Demons” are all good songs simplifying the Christian life and are keys to understanding the Christian faith.

When the track first comes on you just get a very nostalgic vibe from the very catchy hook.  It takes you through a sound time capsule that ushers in a melodic tone with drums and piano.  A sound that is very traditional and focuses more on sound quality.

Al Casso, brings it home for us with his verses that are very well-thought out and crafty in the sense of Biblical truths.  His rap cadence again reminds me of “Scarface” with a Midwest flavor.  When I listen to Al Casso I hear his heart behind every lyric.  He truly lives out the word of God and it shows.  I can only believe that a live performance of this song would do very well in front of an R&B audience. The track has a bounce and sway medley that would get the crowd moving.
