Hello everyone and welcome back to another installment in my Artist of the Week album review edition!
This week we have my homie Brandon aka TR!KE, TR!KE is an underground upcoming artist hailing from Ohio, following up from the release of his 2022 debut EP reality is the release of his second EP entitled introspection.
introspection is a project that Brandon has been working hard on for the past year, going through the process of recording and making sure that everything was how he wanted it to be, a perfectionist when it comes to music TR!KE wanted to make sure that everything about this project was 100% where he wanted it to be.
Having hand painted the cover art for the project, this is a bit of a more personal project for TR!KE as the title suggests, the theme of the project as he describes it is self reflection, having this to say about it:
“The main theme of the whole project is just self reflection basically and each song dive into different things while being the same. “Reason” was the start of everything for it before I even knew I wanted it to be an ep, just a single I laid out as an outlet. “Reason” was the questioning of my mind, “myself” was acknowledging my wrongs, “entertain” goes further into the first two along with the falling out of a friend, “route” is picking up all the pieces while still struggling, and “sly” is a reflection of everything all together closing the ep while being the perfect transition back into the beginning of it, almost creating a cycle.”
Mixed, produced and engineered entirely by CuBox, introspection finds TR!KE at his best, sonically, lyrically and vocally, despite being such a short project it sums up the message very clearly.
TR!KE is an artist who even though he’s a Christian his music isn’t explicitly Christian, with themes varying around real life events and even discovering who he is as a person, we find that Christ has been present throughout all of it, allowing TR!KE to not only express himself artistically but also to find God for himself.
Throughout the five tracks Brandon weaves in the theme of self reflecting and the outcome of that, which is becoming a better person, a better Christian and finding how to navigate life better than he had before, introspection is an excellent follow up to reality and I really think you’ll love it.
That brings us to the end of this review, if you rock with TR!KE, make sure to drop him a follow here , this will be my last album/ep review of the year so huge thank you to TR!KE for allowing me to put my own spin and thoughts on what this project is and thank you to everyone for the support and I can’t wait for what God has in store for next year.
