Last week I sat down with Joshua Kriese to do the latest installment of the “Independent Artist Spotlight”. Joshua Kriese is a Husband, Father of 5, and Canadian CHH artist. In preparation for its release, I listened to Joshua’s song “Justified” about 3 or 4 times in a row. Of course first things first, I had to observe the hook. It was intriguing. It reminded me of a smooth West Coast summer vibe. It’s as if you pictured a visual you could see lowriders bouncing in the background. That was the initial vibe that I felt. To me, the production was a great compliment to the vibe. Joshua’s voice caught a wave and the track came in and surfed underneath him to give it the perfect blend. When it comes to the hook, that was stellar too. The song reminded me of a popular song I loved a long time ago called “Butterfly” by a group named “Crazy Town”. The hook had a melodic flow and of course resonates with the teaching in the scriptures.
Now on to the story! Joshua gives a great retelling of what it means to be justified in the eyes of Jesus, who paid the ultimate price for our sins. Joshua gives us the biblical definition of justification and nails it down to a tee. We joked about how he has commentary on his bookshelf for every book of the bible. Throughout the song, Joshua points us to biblical truth and scripture readings. After hearing “Justified” you should have no question about the meaning of justification. Joshua lays it all out for us in his dynamic song that reflects the true meaning of the word and gives us great insight as to how to use this song a witnessing tool.
