Last week I sat down with Luvonachek to do the latest installment of the “Independent Artist Spotlight”. Luvonachek is a man of God first, then a husband and father. I encourage you to visit the link at the bottom of this article to view his entire interview. We had a deep-dive conversation that I promise you will be well worth your time. One of my favorite moments from our interview was when Luvonachek talked about his wife and sons and their musical abilities. Color me impressed! Shout out to Avé and Rando for holding down their portion of the family name. To hear a song featuring his wife, check out “Luv” featuring Avé. To hear a song with his son, Rando Rexx, check out “Never Leaving” It’s funny I just thought of a joke where I could have said “I bet family time is one big rehearsal dinner!” It probably would received a chuckle or two.
In preparation for our interview, I listened to his entire project of “Liquor, Lust and Lies” an earlier project that was re-released earlier this year as the 2024 edition. I was so impressed with the project and I just knew I was going to enjoy our interview. I definitely think that Luvonachek is underrated. He’s not an artist that you hear once and then just push him to the side. No, he makes you want to go digging for more of his music.
The song that I actually reviewed is called “Prodigal”. Luvonachek released it in the early spring of this year. Of course, always hitting me first I thought would be the beat, but no! My guy came in heavy with the bars right out of the gate! I’m talking straight killing the beat! It was outstanding! Later in the song he brought in a hook in between verses that was catchy and well-fitting to compliment the song.
Since he is originally from New Orleans, I tried to fit my expectations in a box, but I couldn’t. I was thinking maybe classic Wayne, probably a little bit of Juve, but I felt a mix of a whole Southern influence of both Wayne & Juve and some Andre 3000 mixed in there. It reminded me of one of those hidden gems you find on a mixtape and while your head’s nodding and your eyes are closed you look up and rush to your feet to go search the playlists.
I hope you enjoy “Prodigal” as much as I did. You can now stream or purchase “Prodigal” on streaming platforms or wherever digital music is available.
