A. Sims Drops New Single “Actual (Hip Hop)” Featuring Jus Beyond | @asimsofficial @trackstarz

“ACTUAL (HIP-HOP)” | BY A.SIMS | FEAT. JUS BEYOND

“The idea is to make hip-hop that is just as uncommon, a sound that is set apart–touched by God perhaps–something that is particular and beautiful, like the mood of jazz.” ~A.Sims~

A.Sims: A poet, emcee, writer, and filmmaker from Los Angeles by way of Indiana, started hitting poetry open mic nights with his hip-hop spoken word crew Commoners and Kings in 2004. Working on film sets by day and doing poetry at night he rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest heavyweights in entertainment. Now solo his goal is to usher smart lyrics, classic hip-hop, jazzy loops, and chill vibes into the mainstream music world.

Lyrics:

What if we repented, run-on like a sentence

Built my craft from the 90s, my chrome mic is vintage

Like the thief’s theme

Play me at night they won’t act right

Electric Relaxation, bumpin Illadelph Halflife

And that’s word

Poetic veteran, still better than

Most of these rappers rappin’ today

While the earth passes away

A distant star, a bright quasar

Outta this world into the heavens

We bend body to praise, his grace is like warm sun rays

He is the foundation, rich with patience

The Holy Ghost Writer, with Quill pen

Inscribe verses, upon the hearts of men

Amazing grace that, saves us from sin

Piano Riffs, Piano Riffs…

Word Smith, A.Sims Microphone Fiend, go for the gusto

Don’t press your luck though, lyrics, know to assassinate

God is on time while I’m, known to procrastinate

Can I get that, soul clap, that boom bap

Truth will divide, the sinner saved pulled from a flaming grave

What if we repented, run-On like a sentence

Built my craft from the 90’s, my Chrome mic is vintage

Like I met Jesus Christ when I was 10 years old

And what I love most he has so much soul

He was old school, and I was just a shortie

Never knew, through out my life, he would be there for me

On the regular

In love with church girls and non-sequiturs

You amateurs are proving why people have no respect for us

So stop

Drop

Shut it down, open up shop

Do something different, I’m grateful for every listen

Reflection Eternal, like I was searching for proper vision

I try to listen with an open mind

Reread the Psalms like rap lyrics

I find there is, joy in repetition

Way before commercialism, I loved hip-hop

Before the dawn of time, he loved us

So ridiculous, the Public Enemy

From 93, til’ infinity

Beyond the music, we strive to be the truest like that
