Courage In The Midst of Trial | @ryanmw92 @trackstarz

Whats up everyone? I am having quite the week and am ready for Thanksgiving break. Something my girlfriend has been challenging me to think about is courage. It’s something we all have, whether we know it or not. Some people come roaring in like a lion, others are small and timid like a lamb. Jesus was both. We, as Jesus followers have to “smell like Jesus” and be both the lion and the lamb. There are sometimes that we are extremely courageous, ready to attack the enemy with the Word and faith. Other times, it can be extremely difficult to even open our bibles or even pray.

Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is standing up for what you believe in, in the face of fear. Scripture says, “The enemy comes to steal, kill, and to destroy. I (Jesus) have come so that they may have life, and life to the full” (John 10:10). This verse is so strong because the enemy tries to take our courage away. He will try to knock our foundation from us, but when we have our foundation in Jesus, we are confident in that He is working through us to be courageous. Jesus tells us, “This is my command–be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9). It doesn’t get any more plain than this. Jesus is telling Joshua in this passage to press on to the Promised Land, and He is telling us the same thing. Be strong and courageous. There will be giants that stand in our way, and things will come against us, but that is when we speak to those trials, we speak with courage, because we have the power of Jesus inside of us.

Courage is something that we all need to grow in, even myself. When we realize where our identity lies, it allows courage to rise up inside of us to the point that we speak like David did to Goliath. We can speak with confidence that victory is ours through Christ, and that He is always with us, lighting up our path, and replacing fear with faith.

Much Love,
