On Friday March 9, 2018 hip hop veteran Da’ T.R.U.T.H. Kicked off his new tour entitled “The Nostalgia Tour.” An awesome night of worship, turn up and remembering what God has done. I personally think that T.R.U.T.H. is one of the best live performers I’ve ever seen. His shows are really an experience. A worship experience. If there was such a category as hip hop praise and worship I would say that he would be it. He would be classified as a hip hop worship leader. To quote the legendary hip hop group A Tribe Called Quest it’s literally ‘beats, rhymes and life.’
This was my third time seeing him in concert and each time is better and better. T.R.U.T.H. Is definitely an effective minister of the gospel. Not only in that he is knowledgeable of the scriptures, but that he also balances that with a genuine enthusiasm for the music as well. It’s not just 45 minutes or so of him just jumping around on stage, but also him eagerly encouraging his audience to be an active participant engaged into the music.
This tour has a bit of a twist. Typically, when an artist goes on tour it’s to promote either new music that has just been released or is coming. Da’ T.R.U.T.H. is doing something a little different with this tour. He stated during his set, “I want us to remember. Not just to remember a song, but what was God doing in you at that time that this song spoke to you. As you remember it helps you to move forward into where God is taking you.” An awesome way to state the balance of what was with what is and what is to come. As we press on remembering the faithfulness of God to encourage us to move forward.
Again, it was a lit night that opened with a set from the legendary Cross Movement doing medley of their classics. Followed by a worship set by a new local Baltimore artist William McMillan and the WillMBand. Then of course, last but not least Da’ T.R.U.T.H.
Now don’t get it twisted. There is some new music on the way from this dope brother out of Philly. He recently dropped a single called ‘My Own Drum.’ That is available on all digital platforms now. There will be a new mixtape from him dropping some time in 2018. Be on the lookout for that. Again, the Baltimore show on March 9th was just the kickoff to his tour. Make sure to follow Da’ T.R.U.T.H. on social media to find out all of the tour dates and locations for The Nostalgia Tour. It is a worship experience that will not disappoint. Until next time…
Peace and blessings,
