Recently, God has been wrecking my heart about trusting Him with my life, even when situations in life are very difficult to overcome. I really believe that God is saying to us that we need to really trust that He is our very present help. Scripture tells us, “I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1-2). This passage is so huge because it encourages us that God is our help in time of need. That we just need to cry out to Him, and depend on Him to provide a way out for us.
On the other end of the spectrum, we can’t just cry out to God when we are in need. We need to cry out to our Savior, even when everything is going amazingly in our lives. It all boils down to this… That Jesus longs to commune with us; when things are awesome, and when we are in the lowest points of our lives. He is a perfect Father that cares about us dearly, so He is someone we can bank on for us to fall on. I am reminded of the song “I Need You”. The words ring in my head, “When I cannot stand I will fall on You, Jesus you’re my hope and stay”. This is so powerful because it accurately depicts Jesus as someone who will catch us when we fall. He is the one who lifts our head when we are at our breaking point.
Even as I write these articles, I go through tough seasons in my life. If I can be honest, I don’t always depend on Jesus primarily as the first go to. Sometimes I run to my friends to talk to, or I will just hold things inside, hoping I will just get over it. Can anyone relate??? Even when I stray, Jesus is right there opening His arms, offering to be my present help in my need. For people who are going through things such as heartbreak, disappointments, or anything that brings you down, let Jesus lift you up. Let the Savior be your Savior, and don’t be afraid to cry out to Him. Like literally cry. It is totally okay to lay every feeling out there. Times like those are so necessary because we are letting God be Lord over our hearts, and it is showing God that we are in desperate need of Him.
We all go through trials in life. To be honest, I go through things that seem impossible to get out of. I am not trying to make it seem that these problems are not big, or that the major disappointments that we deal with are minuscule. They are major. However, Jesus is so much bigger than those. He is offering for us to cast our cares and problems on Him (1 Peter 5:7). I want to encourage all my readers that are going through something right now, that you are not alone. The pain is very real, but Jesus is available with His arms wide open. Let us all take a step and get alone with God and really give Him the hurts and pains, and let Him be our very present help.
Much Love,
Ryan W.
