Swift – “Awesome God”| Throwback Theology| @swift215 @damo_seayn3d @trackstarz

In 2003 what would come to be one of CHH’s most prolific rappers would drop his first project, “81.02”. Philly rapper Swift fka R-Swift comes on the scene. This was still the early years in CHH, so there was not a lot of hype behind the music. But when you’ve got bars, you’ve got bars and they will speak for you a lot.

Swift has an aggressive, hardcore east coast style and swag with his music that just draws you in. He had tough beats to match the hardcore lyrics. Swift coming out of the Cross Movement camp and being the start of a new breed of rappers. Swift now 14 years, 7 albums and a name change later is still at the top of his game.

I am doing this article, because I’m such a big fan. It was really hard to select an album or a song to highlight from one of the greats in hip hop. I decided to double up on the throwback and hit y’all with his hip hop remake of a classic Christian song. “Awesome God” by the late Rich Mullins, is a song that has been sung in churches all over for years. How fitting that this great anthem of the church is remade by Swift on his album entitled “The Anthem.” Swift puts a hip hop spin on this classic, because the hip hoppers luh God and want to worship Him too.

“The Anthem” was his 5th album and released in 2009.  It is ended with this great anthem of the church.  So check out Swift’s rendition of “Awesome God” and let us know what you think. I hope you get into some good worship. Until next time.

Peace and blessings
