Lessons From Kong: Skull Island| Blog| @damo_seayn3d @trackstarz

I bet you thought King Kong ain’t have nothing on you. Well maybe he didn’t before, but he might have something in the latest film. I personally thought the movie was dope. I think Samuel L. Jackson plays the best angry black man ever, but I digress.

Kong of course, we all know he is a giant gorilla living far off in a remote island. He is basically king of the beasts on that island.  This isn’t just a reboot of the typical King Kong story. Armies come in to fight this giant beast they feel is a threat to their civilization, but he’s really not.  Then Samuel L. Jackson’s character gets a twisted idea about conquering the beast.

Kong is really not a beast that threatens civilization. He’s actually the king and protector of the island and its people. The group of American soldiers that come to his island end up in a battle with him, because Kong thinks that they are a threat to him, the people and the land.  The natives find refuge and peace in the fact that Kong is there to protect them from any threats.

I liken this to our relationship with God and the world.  God is our great protector and King.
We as believers find our refuge in Him.  The world looks at God and the church as this strange and unusual place/people.  When they come in, they feel threatened.  Some feel so threatened that they attack God and His church.  They don’t like some of our beliefs or practices and they even demonize us.  Some call us colts.  The Lord stands for us as a Mighty Protector.  He says the battle is not ours, but His.

Our Redeemer fought the ultimate battle for us at Calvary when He laid down His life to save us from the penalty of sin.  Even though those on the outside come and attack, God doesn’t just fight for us.  Even though they are warring with God, He also offers peace and welcomes them in.  Put down your tools of war.  Let us come and reason together.  We can live in peace and love together as a family.

To some God is considered a monster.  He is a threat, when He really wants a relationship.  For us to know His power and might works for our good when we love Him and know that we have been called by Him.
