A. Ward vs. Real Deal | Battle Rap Review| ‪@iam_award ‪@real_dealraps ‬@ryguy92 @trackstarz

A. Ward

Firstly, I love the fact that a Christian comes into a rap battle and brings influence. A. Ward quickly gained the attention of the audience with his wordplay. Honestly, I had to re-watch certain parts a few times to get the references, but he is very witty and instantly captivated me. One line that stood out was when he said “I can see the proof across your face, like you couldn’t afford the school pictures” Also, “you just met (New York Mets) a Christian that would come out swinging, I’m Tim Tebow batting.” Since I have watched a few other Christian battle rappers, A. Ward is a frontrunner to me because of his stage presence, and the fact that he doesn’t go too deep about being a Christian, as to be relatable to the non-Christian listeners.

Real Deal

He raps very proper. I can tell that he is a great speaker. I honestly like that he has Christian jokes, because it brings more competition. He said “you stole my sound and then holy watered it down” yikes!!! Also, “I’m a different type of God I gave birth to this new wave like I’m Poseidon.” I love the references he makes to history and to celebrities in classic movies. The way he twists words in his rhymes are so astounding, and the fact that he looks at his opponent, really makes it feel like a battle instead of a show.

Overall, this battle was solid. I think the winner was A.Ward just because of his rebuttals and his wordplay. He is very creative and he knows how to balance his faith with being competitive and relatable to the audience. It was a close call, but to me, that was the deciding factor. Both rappers are amazingly talented, and I am excited to hear more from each of them.
