Being grateful is something that has been on my mind very heavily this past week. I think what has caused it is that three friends and myself were involved in a car accident last Sunday night. We were cut off by another car, and to avoid a serious accident, my friend turned sharply, and we spun out three or four times. Right at that moment, we slammed into the highway divider and I felt like the car was going to flip over, but it didn’t. Needless to say we were all scared that our lives could have ended that night. But God…

God kept us alive that night. Just sitting in my car the next day, I couldn’t shake the fact that God kept my friends and I safe that night. I have had friends who have passed in car wrecks, and I had that feeling of “Wow my life could have ended, but somehow God spared us.” Since the accident, my prayer every day has been that I would not take advantage of life, and that I would be more grateful for the things I have and for the people in my life.

I heard this song by Aaron Cole and Kaleb Mitchell called “Got No Choice.” In the song, Kaleb says, “Honestly I don’t deserve all the things that’s been coming my way/ blessings on blessings and I got no choice but to give Him the praise.” This line has grabbed my attention because I take a lot for granted and I know God doesn’t want us to live that way. I encourage us all to live every day with a heart of gratitude that we could be in an even worse situation, but God is protecting and watching over us lovingly all the time. I think once we grasp that, not only will the world be a better place, but the love of The Father will be so contagious in our lives, people would have to ask what is going on with us. So honestly in the words of Aaron Cole “I got no choice but to be grateful.”

Let’s live the Grateful Life y’all!! By the way, below is the link to the song I mentioned in the article:
