Last week, we talked about opening dialogue with your spouse to advance the communication and break down barriers within the marriage. One of the biggest things that you don’t want to do is insult your spouse. There is a big difference between inspiring your spouse and insulting your spouse. Both can motivate them to do better in the marriage, but the result will be done with the wrong motive. You can tell if you are insulting your spouse by saying things like:
“You call yourself a real man/woman!”
“You’ll never change!”
“You’re just like your mom/father!”
“I’m not attracted to you anymore!”
“You can’t satisfy me!”
These are just a few things that can be said to insult your spouse that can lead to longer debates and possible divorce. I urge you to have a Mirror Moment with yourself and see if you are insulting or inspiring your spouse. Spread The Soup!
