KW: You are opening up for Dee-1 this Friday in AZ. How did that come about?
B: Davis Absolute is the main opener for the show and introduced me to the promoters, we have been building since my moving here. He also recorded, mixed & designed the artwork on the entire Sojourner project, so shout out to my brother Davis Absolute. As a side note, his new project “Absolutes” goes HARD!
KW: I believe you have a day job, as well as being a husband, father and an artist. How do you balance everything and what advice would you give others also in similar shoes?
B: Family has to come first. There’s a lot of sacrifice and compromise in regards to how much time and resources I can invest musically, but I know that sowing into my family first is a weightier matter than rap any day. With that said, I involve my family as much as possible and my wife’s help and support from day 1 has been priceless.
KW: And in extension to that question, this generation (particularly millennials), seems to be focused very much on passion and purpose. Can you speak about what that means to you and how would you encourage millennials in passion and purpose?
B: Yo you have to seek the Face of your Creator. Let HIM show you your purpose and just be genuine! Embrace your roots and who your are in Christ, and not these photo shopped portraits of who the world says you should be. Music, TV, Social Media, the School Systems etc…they can’t teach you that! Be WISE, be humble, serve others in ways you feel lead to and in ways that your good at! Be enterprising, don’t just be a consumer & borrower. Stay hungry and stay curious, you never know where the Holy Spirit will lead you but LET HIM!
KW: What is on your radar for 2017 and where can we find you on social media etc?
B: I am on all social media platforms @blesssoulhiphop…Let’s Build Fam Bam! I’m currently writing for my next project. I want to collaborate with a few artists that inspire me and would love to do more interviews and really share my heart as well as provide some social commentary. Furthermore, my wife & I are launching a business as well, a lifestyle brand that focuses on conscious living.
