Is Convenience Killing Millennials? |Audio Blog| @jasonbordeaux1 @trackstarz

Technology has made a tremendous impact in the world today. We have the ability to do so much more than our parents could ever imagine. We can record a live footage to the whole world with the touch of our cell phone. We can do so much more so much quicker than ever before. Some of these things are very helpful. Some can be life saving. I have diabetes and the convenience of being able to take an insulin shot anywhere is extremely helpful with the busyness of my life right now. With the great things that have been given to us over the years there are some things that have been detrimental. Here are a couple of things that I have found through some research that are becoming problems with millennials.

According to Time magazine, the top area that millennials spend money is convenient store foods, fast food, and other prepackaged foods. This is extremely unhealthy for anyone. When young people start this type of habits it carries on through later years and causes bad health as they get older. Even though millennials are also one of the top groups to eat organic food, they are still the unhealthiest when it comes to eating habits. Faster food choices is killing millennials.

Another problem with the stress of convenience is the lack of patience. We get so caught up in getting things now without wait that we are willing to spend extra money on faster services, which also a factor in fast-food habits of today. One of the other common spending habits for millennials is expedited delivery. They pay for more overnight shipping and faster services more than our preceding generation. I personally feel this is due to a lack of preparation. This is why credit card usage is also high amongst millennials. We may not have planned for a financial cost and decide to use credit card to make a purchase. Debt is killing millennials.

One last area that I feel millennials are suffering is our personal time for others. We get so caught up with social media conversations and texting that we hardly spend real face time with others. This takes out any intimacy with people. Phone conversations are also decreasing because texting is much quicker. When you make time for people they will appreciate it much more. Time is one of our most limited resources, so when you make some for someone else, it shows how much you really care. Lack of personal time is killing our relationships with others.

These may not apply to all millennials, but if any apply to yourself, then maybe you should find a way to make a change. Try finding some healthier ways to nourish yourself. Try planning out your financial goals to save yourself from the slavery of debt. Take the time to spend some one on one time with family and friends and show how much they mean to you other than messages and texts. Some of these will be harder to apply than others, but I feel all of these are areas that we as millennials can benefit from. I hope this has helped in some kind of way.

God Bless
