As a fan of battle rap growing up, I used to love to hear Freestyle Friday and Rap City’s Tha Basement. 8 Mile was one of my favorite movies and I learned all the battles by heart as many did. A few years after 8 Mile was released, a buddy of mine introduced me to Lecrae’s music and I bought Rebel. This album changed my life and my search for hip hop. I stopped pirating music and would buy everything I was able to. I instantly became of fan of Lecrae. Trying to find some of his previous music on youtube and with my history of Eminem videos, a suggested video sparked my interest. Lecrae vs Eminem Line 4 Line. I couldn’t imagine my two favorite rappers battling each other or Lecrae battling anyone at all. I watched it and had no idea what I had encountered.
I saw a few guys around a table playing snippets of my favorite rappers and seeing which one sounded better. After that video was finished I saw Lecrae vs Lil Wayne. I watched excitingly and watched a few more before I went to bed. I didn’t understand that this was a radio show until a few years later when I decided to look it up again. I Googled the word Trackstarz and found the radio show that would change my life. I found some segments on youtube of noteworthy and dissect and couldn’t get enough. After my purge, I downloaded the app and listened to the podcasts for what seemed like years. In one of the shows, I heard Seantana say that people could watch live on Periscope. I got the time figured out and watched live for the first time. I was so amazed that I could vote on a Line 4 Line live! This was one of the most rememberable days in music history for me.
After the relaunch of Trackstarz Radio Show in Feb of 2016, I joined the team as a writer and marketing rep and heard God’s calling on my life. I know He has me here for a purpose, I pray I can live that out and be obedient to His leading. I want to say God Bless to all the Trackstarz team especially Ryan Righteous, Seantana, and DJ Jeremaya for being faithful to their calling for years on end. Thank You ALL!
