We have all had that moment where we had to either put a friend or family member in check about our salvation. They think they can just wait until “this phase” or ask “Are you still saved?” and we will go back to how we were before we got saved. One song that reminds me of how to react or what I should always be reminded of is Sho Baraka’s “Higher love” video. Within the song and lyrics, he reminds us of a higher love and standard that we are now currently living by and with. I love how Sho went throughout the video searching for people to encourage about their faith as he was accompanied by his band. The party/trap house scene was always so powerful for me, because I was always that guy in my dorm or at parties that was saved. I had to continue to keep my faith as others around me were doing some pretty foul things. Through this video, it confirmed that I was doing the right things and that I didn’t have to be ashamed of who I was or who I was becoming.
The editing and color scheme for the video comes off as very bright and keeps the viewer in a cheerful and positive mood. Sho’s interaction with the band also helps this out as well. The concept of the Good news traveling fast is a perfect way of showing how our actions can impact those around us. The video displays real life situations that all of us can relate to. Sho’s last verse really tells believers and non believer’s the essence of who God is and what he wants to bring into your life. This video and track is filled with a great word and truly breaks down what it means to be a Christian. It’s still relevant to this day and will be as the days become more difficult for the church. Whether it’s taking a stand, being in a uncomfortable decision or trying to break off bad relationships, we must understand that God has given us Higher Love. Spread The Soup!
