J’son “Goon” Video Review| #ThrowbackTheology | @json116 @thisl @pastorad3 @Chicangeorge @Trackstarz

One of this week’s trending topics happens to belong to Birdman and The Breakfast Club. The debate of “respeck” given (or not given) was highlighted within his interview and many people spoke on how he and his entourage were acting like “goons.” As I read that comment, I thought about the word “goon.” Which then led me to the idea of this week’s “Throwback Theology” video. I remembered J’son’sGoon” video.

This video was a great look for CHH in 2010. The hook was a key factor in drawing me into this song. It reminded the listener that we weren’t created for the stereotypical image that the enemy and media was planting in our minds. I love how real and raw Thi’sl’s verse is in the song. He not only kills the verse, but then kills the camera man out at 2:25 seconds. I always took it as J’son and Pastor Ad3 wearing the black and red as being symbolic of the sacrifice of Christ saving us- death of our old lives and being covered by the blood of Christ.

This video is still relevant now. It still speaks to the spirit of those misguided in the streets. This video shows that young Christian men can come together for something that isn’t negative. They are also showing us “that was them” and giving us their testimony. This video serves so many lessons, but the most important is that you are not a “goon” in the streets, but God’s child in the Kingdom. Spread The Soup!
