Tedashii dropped his most recent project “This Time Around” not too long ago and I believe that it is his most interesting project to date. Tedashii dropped his first EP and it is 7 tracks, three of which he dropped as singles in the months leading up to the release date. These singles “Be Me”, “Jumped Out the Whip”, and “808” were received with mixed reviews because they were far outside of Tedashii’s usual wheelhouse. T-Dot uses a lot more melody and even does quite a bit of singing. As far as his rapping goes, it appears that Tedashii uses a more simplistic slowed down style as opposed the ferocity of the past. This project is Tedashii coming out of one of the darkest seasons of his life and making light hearted music. None of the songs are too Gospel-Centric, which I am fine with since he poured his heart out for us about two years ago on “Below Paradise.” Tedashii does touch on current world topics, such as police brutality, corruption, rappers talking about a life they have never lived, as well as other topics. The soundscape for this project is very laid back and seems to flow seamlessly from one song to the next. This feel and sound is best represented on the closing track “I’m Good” with Tedashii singing accompanied by a guitar about how he is good with where life is right now. If you are looking for a typical Tedashii project this is not for you; however, if you are curious about the next chapter in the life of an artist who has consistently put out quality product, then you may be in for a pleasant surprise.
