“It is what it is” Precise aka Bob Young Video Review| Throwback Theology|@trackstarz @chicangeorge

It is what it is” was a term that I heard a lot growing up. Many times, it was said in reference to realizing a dark outcome to a situation. It always had a hard-hitting reality check behind the use of it. That’s why when Bob Young aka Precise used it as a single/video for his track “It is what it is,” I could totally feel and see his vision. The unique approach he took with this video was his clear description for both sides of the streets- those that were trying to overcome it and those that allowed the streets to overcome them. The video clearly shows the view where they have to pick a side and can’t straddle the fence in the game of life. Not only does it show a “It is what it is” view, but a “It’s always been how it’s been” as well. He exposes how the mainstream industry wants to keep those negative images pumping in the streets and they will try to silence artists with accolades and fame.

At the end of the day, this video, lyrics and even production is just as effective now as it was back when it came out in 2007. It paints a picture of how we have to either be hot or cold for God. This song and message behind the track can still be seen now and even though the industry is still the same…so is God. So with that known, I can find peace in knowing “it is what it is”.
