This weekend, I had an experience that gave me a new appreciation for farmers. My wife and I had a vegetable garden last year and it produced a lot of crops. This year, we decided to make it larger and expand to other vegetables. To do this, we would need to rent a tiller in order to get the ground ready because we were using an unused part of the yard for planting. For someone who has never farmed on a larger level, this took a toll on me. It would be safe to say that getting the foundation ready for planting is the hardest part of planting. Someone planting a garden for the first time should make sure the area has the required properties to grow the plant. Some of the things needed are soft soil, nutrients, area with plenty of sunlight, and a non flooding area.
I am thankful I was called to plant seeds into others, after Christ had gotten the foundation ready. He did the hardest part of the task, which is getting the foundation ready. That foundation in this case is His life, death, and resurrection. Jesus gets peoples hearts ready for the sowing to begin. He did the first part and we are to carry out the rest. I want to make sure I am doing my part after He did His. As I was tilling my yard, I knew my wife and daughters would want to help plant the seeds and water them to watch them grow. It would be hurtful to me to know I did all that and they didn’t do anything in response. We should be planting and watering seeds in the foundation Christ has laid for us. Let’s show our appreciation by getting to work and producing some crops.
