“I guess I got to say something, to easy to say nothing.”
That is the first line Dillon Chase proclaims in his new album entitled ‘Speak Up V.3.’
Early in his life, Dillon used music as an outlet. He wrote songs in hopes to travel to a new world where he could get away from the reality of living with parents addicted to drugs and alcohol. When Dillon turned 16, he left home to live with his Aunt. He eventually found himself homeless. It wasn’t until his senior year in High School, a family took him in and showed him who Jesus was. Dillon’s new father figure spoke up when Dillon sinned and taught him about Christ. This gave Dillon the example and need for Christians to speak up. Dillon surrendered his life to Christ in September of 2004 and began using his gifts in a manner pleasing to God.
Amidst a culture of political correctness, Dillon Chase takes the stand to share the truth from the platform he has been entrusted with. He does not hold back. With a rare balance of conviction and grace, he tackles issues that have gripped our society. From abortion to fatherlessness, ‘Speak Up V.3’ takes us on a journey inside the heart and passion of the man in front of the mic.
“Since the first volume of ‘Speak Up,’ my desire was to address the problems we all face but to also speak up on the solution. That solution is Jesus. Volume 3 carries on that desire,” said Dillon when he spoke to Trackstarz. It’s clear throughout the album the message is to recognize our condition of sin but to also be reminded there is hope in a hopeless world. We are challenged track after track to not just play church but to speak up and be the church.
This is vividly portrayed in a line from his title track where Dillon says, “If I’m torn apart limb by limb, I hope the church says more than defund them.” When asked where that line came from, Dillon told Trackstarz, “As Christians, we can try to take the political approach in current issues. The truth is the church needs to be doing something tangible. If the tearing apart of limbs happened to an adult, would we just say defund the ones responsible? We need more substantial things to be done from Christians. We have to do more then just defund Planned Parenthood. We need to get to the root and that is the heart.”
Arguably this is the best work from Dillon Chase to date and the best part is, it’s all for free. When asked for his motive to give it out for free, Dillon responded, “Many friends asked me that question. The reason is that God has been faithful to me and has provided. If God is opening doors for me, let me show the same gratitude to my fans that helped me get to where I am now.”
If you haven’t downloaded ‘Speak Up V.3,’ then you are missing out on music CHH needs. On a personal level, the track entitled “STAY” resonated with me. The song speaks on growing up without a father, and it truly blessed me since I know exactly what that means. I believe this is not just a continuation of a series of albums. These are words from the heart of God to the church. It’s time for us to Speak Up against sin, pain, and suffering. It’s time for us to Speak Up on the solution, which is Jesus.
“There are somethings you can only learn and arrive at through experience. This album is powerful because it is about a man that has been married, is raising children, has seen maturity in his life. There is a tone of authority that this album has that pass ones didn’t because of that maturity. Give an old guy a chance.” -Dillon Chase
