What’s going on everyone??!! This week, I just wanted to take some time to send some encouragement to everyone. I know a lot of students have finished finals for the semester, or some people in the working world are about to start preparing for summer vacations. Even with all the excitement during the summer time, we can get lost in the stress. The sameness can be said with our walk with Christ. It can get overwhelming having to make sure you read and pray and all of that, which isn’t bad, but really dig into taking the pressure off. Don’t get caught up in doing deeds only for the satisfaction of doing them.
It’s so astounding that in the book of Mark, we see Jesus talking to the Pharisees, who were judging Jesus’ disciples about picking food on the Sabbath. Jesus tells them that yes it is good to honor the Sabbath and to have a right heart, but don’t neglect the real world aspect of life as well. In other words, don’t be so spiritual that you are not earthly good. We can get so caught up in ‘doing’ that we can forget about just being. We are children of God.
I am not saying to neglect prayer, fasting, and going to church. What I am sayin is to get some time alone to refresh your heart motive, and to reconnect with the power of Christ. That is why we have the Holy Spirit. He is God in us, helping us to stay on the right path with Jesus. There is nothing we need to do or have to do to earn God’s love. He showed us His love by the work He did on the cross. He has freed us from the mentality of having to do.
I encourage us all, find some way to refresh ourselves. Find a way to just enjoy God, and allow Him to rejuvenate our soul. Also, don’t get so caught up in doing, but rather be caught up in receiving the fresh love and grace from our Wonderful Savior. Receive this, that we may show the world just how freeing being with Jesus really is.
Love you all!!
