Christian hip-hop vets, Knowdaverbs and Pettidee stunned the Christian music scene when the dynamic duo formed Village KNG. If you were excited about them with their individual bodies of work, then you are thrilled that the two have come together to give us a double dose of the good stuff!
In the latest installment of my interview series, “The Independent Artist Spotlight” I sat down with both of them to discuss their phenomenal project, “Side A”. It was thrilling to speak with them and learn how this two-headed thriller was formed. In the interview, they let me in on a few secrets about the “Side B” project including a potential release date.
I recently reviewed their hit single “Kriss Cross”. What an amazing body of work. First off, you know my number one draw-in is always the hook and this one was spectacular. It was so catchy, credit to Pettidee, who always brings that gritty sound that I love so much! If you’re old enough to remember the child rap prodigies, Christopher Kelly and Christopher Smith who mad up the legendary rap group, Kris Kross, then you know this was a beautiful play on words. I love the way that they flipped the group name to represent carrying the cross for Christ.
This song was the perfect blend of Southern rap and East Coast. Shoutout to Knowdaverbs who brought in that smooth flow riding on a fantastic beat. Thank you Pettidee for you raspy Down South contribution as well! What I loved most was the trade off between their verses. You can hear their individual sounds that we’re all so use to, but you also get a great blend that fit in perfectly with the song. I urge you to take a deep listen at the verses for yourself. AMAZING bars! If you know me then you know I love double-time rapping. This track had those elements and so much more! This was an A+ in my book!
