W.O.R.S.H.I.P.
Workin’ on really servin’ Him in praise
– Souljahz

When we think of worship, it’s not just gathering on Sunday morning and singing praise songs for 15 minutes before the morning prayer in a church service. It’s not just the songs that we sing. Those are aspects of worship, but are not worship in its totality.

Worship is not a singular act, but a lifestyle that is bowed down in reverence to a holy and almighty God. Yes we are to literally bow our heads and lift our hands to this mighty King, but if our hearts are turned from Him, then it’s not worship. We are to live lives in dedication to Him and His greatness.

Now some may think this means, “I’ve got to go down a list of dos and don’ts because I’m trying to live for God.” Actually on the contraire. It’s a life of what can I do. God is not a task master waiting to mash us out with His thumb when we do something wrong or make a mistake. He is not calling us to live a life of boredom either. It is because our heart is dedicated to Him, we look to give Him all that we have to love and serve Him.

For example, to one person working in a soup kitchen to feed the needy is a worrisome task, because all they think about is the time and energy it takes to do it. To another person, it brings them great joy, because in their heart they desire to love and serve those less fortunate. It’s not that one person is better than the other. It’s just that one person has put their heart into the work and dedicated themselves to it. They not only work in the kitchen, but they’re buying things or altering their schedule to be there without being asked. They have changed their lifestyle to serve.

This is worship and what God really wants from us. To dedicate our lives to Him that not only when we’re singing on Sunday are we worshipping, but our lifestyle is lifting up the name of Jesus for all to see.

That leads us into our throwback track of the week. It is entitled W.O.R.S.H.I.P. It is by a group called Souljahz and is from their 2002 project “The Fault Is History.” They use the word worship as an acronym meaning Workin’ On Really Servin’ Him In Praise.

This group as you can see from the photos is along the lines of a group like the Fugees. Two rappers and a female singer make up the group. They are siblings Joshua, Je’kob and Rachael Washington. Some of you may recognize Je’kob from some features he’s done throughout CHH. Like his feature on Eshon Burgundy’sTell You Why” and his solo project “FaithHope & Love.

In the meantime, check out this single and let us know what you think. Remember to worship the Lord not just on Sunday, but everyday. Until next time…

Peace and blessings.
