“When there’s a lack of something it creates a desire for it.”
– Adrian Gause

This is a quote from a conversation I had with a close friend/brother on the phone this week. We were discussing death and how to cope with He loss of a loved one. A great conversation that made me cry and just as much made me laugh. Both of us have lost our fathers so it was a good time of sharing. This statement stuck with me because of the fact that we as people all have longings but don’t always go about fulfilling them the correct way. For example, there’s nothing wrong with having a nice car, a nice home and money in your pocket. It’s when those things become your reason for living and not having those things causes you to lose your value in who you are. Your worth is not in material things. The primary reason for those things is the basic provisions of life. Food to eat, a roof over your head, clothes on your back, transportation to go where you need to go and funds as a means to take care of your responsibilities.

Even when you look in Genesis 3 at the fall of man when the serpent deceived Eve. Though she was deceived the things she saw were not evil. She was obtaining them in the incorrect context. (Genesis‬ ‭3:6‬ ‭NKJV‬‬ http://bible.com/114/gen.3.6.nkjv) She saw the tree as good for food, pleasant to the eyes and good for wisdom. The thing was the serpent tricked her into disobeying God to get things God would freely give. She was tricked into thinking she lacked something when she didn’t lack anything. It is because of sin that we actually are in a state of lack. We are in the same predicament. The deception of the enemy makes us think we lack what we have access to. God through Christ gave us access to God and all that we need is found in Him.

This leads us to our throwback track this week. It comes from the 2005 Cross Movement Records release by Phanatik, “The Incredible Walk“. The track is entitled “Come Home” and is a modern telling of the story of the prodigal son. Listening to this song it echoes how we think we have it all figured out apart from God, but we are deceived and need to come back home to Him. No worries, because He is not looking at us with judgmental eyes, but with open arms and love in His eyes. So if you have strayed come home. Check out the song and let us know what you think. Until next time…

Peace and blessings
