Lifeway Bookstore Removes Sho Baraka’s Album from Shelves| News| @amishobaraka @trackstarz

It seems as if  Sho Baraka can’t seem to escape controversy. From leaving Reach Records, to the Talented Xth album, Sho seems to keep being ostracized for being true to himself and his convictions. This most recent incident is no exception. After a few complaints from customers, Lifeway Christian Bookstores have removed Sho Baraka’s album The Narrative from their shelves. Why? Because of the word “penis” used on Piano Break, 33 A.D. Here are the lyrics so you can get some context:

I was an insecure boy who just thought he was a genius
But always pissed off, that’s because I thought with my penis
It’s all strategic, I’m just asking us the reason
Share my faith on the track, I’m just exorcising demons

Sho used the word in context, but that was still not good enough. There have been other instances of Lifeway censoring things, like back in 2012 when Rachel Held Evans accused the retailer of not carrying her book because she used the word “vagina.” To see what Sho Baraka had to say about the situation go here.
