KJ-52 – “Do What I Do” | @kj52 @damo_seayn3d @trackstarz

“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.””
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭22:36-40‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Recently on the Trackstarz Sports Anchor channel, we had each of the correspondents do a segment called “Your Why In 5.” It was a brief testimony of why each of us came to Christ. That is something we all need to know as we go through this life. Not just for accepting Christ and getting saved, but also in how we live after accepting Christ.

What is your why? Why do you do what you do? You got saved and joined the choir, or you joined the multimedia ministry or you started ushering. But why? For me personally my why was to share the love of Christ that I had been shown by the body of Christ. The church I got saved in showed so much love when I came in the door and I wanted to share that same love with others.

When people come in the door, I want them to feel welcome and to know they are loved. Not just by me, but by Almighty God. We just recently celebrated Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday. Here is a quote from the great Dr. King:

“If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep streets even as a Michaelangelo painted, or Beethoven composed music or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, “Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.”

It’s not just serving in a ministry in your local church. Wherever you are and whatever you do you should strive for excellence. That’s even in how you love the people around you. We should all ultimately be motivated by love as patterned after our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. The way that manifest in and through each of us may be different, but at the end of the day it should be the love of God that stirs us up on the inside and pushes to share that love with others.

A popular scripture is John 3:16 that says, “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬ http://bible.com/116/jhn.3.16.nlt

God was motivated by the love He has for us to send Jesus to die for us. In return, God’s love is spread in our hearts by His Holy Spirit and we share that love with others.

Remember love is not some random feeling we have. Love is an action word. Jesus said in Matthew 22 that the 2 greatest commandments were to love God and love our neighbors. When God’s love is in us it must be shown through our actions towards God and towards each other. Loving God is not in church attendance or in some legalistic check list you make that proves your better than someone else. The love of Christ is in obeying His commandments and in loving your neighbor the way God instructs you to. Even if it’s the right thing to do, don’t do it with a selfish motivation. Let your motivation be to share God’s love.
