“How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.”

Ephesians 1:3-6 MSG

It’s easy to forget what you have when you feel like so much has been taken away from you. With society as a whole being shut down with COVID-19 we almost feel trapped. Like our very lives have been taken away from us. They haven’t, but it can feel like it. It’s an inconvenience for a short time so that we can be better in the end.

We sometimes allow inconveniences to cloud our minds from realizing how blessed we really are. Yes! We are blessed! It’s not the material things we possess that I’m referring to. Those can be apart of it, but it’s not just that. Those are minor in the grand scheme of things.

You can have riches, houses, land and expensive clothes and not know what your blessings really are. God’s blessing makes us rich and doesn’t add sorrow. (Proverbs 10:22 AMP https://www.bible.com/1588/pro.10.22.amp) Not that it gives you a ton of money. It is the abundant life in God that satisfies the soul. Something money can’t buy.

Yes God can show us favor by giving us money, houses and cars. Jesus said these are things the gentiles or unbelievers seek. They seek after them and their souls still aren’t satisfied, but if we seek first the kingdom of God these things can be added to us. They are added with no sorrow, because we sought after The One who satisfies our souls. Now when we get those things we can enjoy them without trying to use them to fill the God sized void in our hearts. We have gotten into the flow of God and are one with His Spirit so we are able to put things in their proper place and flow in the Spirit. We’re blessed.

That leads us to our Throwback Theology Song of the Week. This song comes out of Chicago from J. Kwest. The featured song is from his 2006 EP, “2020: The Invision EP.” The featured track is called “So Blessed.” Tune into Trackstarz to hear DJ Jeremaya spin this for the Throwback Theology Song of the Day. Until next time…

Peace and blessings,
