Deepspace 5| Stick This In Your Ear| Throwback Theology| @deepspace5 @damo_seayn3d @trackstarz

The year is 2001! CHH as a whole is slowly making progress. At this time the battle wasn’t so much about music breaking into mainstream, but making progress within the church. With the theological vs non-theological Christian hip hop going pretty heavy, it seemed to be an era of super crews. Theology rappers being accepted more and non-theological rappers being cast out as worldly it seemed to help develop these crews. One of those crews was a collection of rappers from various groups known as Deepspace 5. The group consisted of MC’s Playdough (ILL Harmonics), Manchild (Mars ILL), Freddie Bruno, Syntax.the.Terrific, Stu Dent aka Sev Statik (Tunnel Rats), Sivion and Listener. On production DJ Dust (Mars ILL), Beat Rabbi and Manwell?. Definitely fitting the mold of non-theological hip hop. They brought a flair and appreciation for raw and authentic hip hop.

While having success in their other individual and group endeavors, this crew came together strictly for the love of hip hop and to make dope music. Not for record sales. They didn’t even tour. They put out their last album in 2010 entitled “The Future Ain’t What It Used To Be”. I’m not sure if the group permanently disbanded or not. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of these guys is in a hole in the wall joint somewhere still spitting bars. A collection of different styles that meshed together so to drop a bomb product. The song featured is a track from their first album together entitled “The Night We Called It A Day”. The song is called “Stick This In Your Ear”. Basically, looking to medicate the culture with dope rhymes and beats. This crew is definitely a throwback to boom bap beats and backpack style rap. Their music is available on all your digital outlets. Check it out and let us know what you think. Until next time peace and blessings.
