Kenneth L. Woods stage name KennyFresh is a Hawaii native. Traveling the United States with naval parents and siblings as the eldest son he often found that his sense of community was not finite due to the navy’s call of duty equating to travel; however, his childhood passion for literature would remain.
From reading words on the page to bringing words to life through poetry years later KennyFresh stage presence emits hope, consciousness of self-acceptance...relinquishing stereotypes for his audience.
As stated in an array of his compositions intellect is not deemed worthy by a specific ethnicity, gender or sex regardless of social media’s portrayal. KennyFresh is an Indiana University graduate with a Bachelor of Science in biology and an Associate degree in Chemistry.
His love for science and poetry actualized provides encouragement for youths that are detoured from their dreams due to economic status, race, and ultimately fear. As stated in his original poem, “Augmented Reality”, “All it takes to truly stand out...is to just be you.”
His prose is a compilation of humor; satire intertwined with faith in humanity’s potential and most esteemed his Creator.
No longer is he the shy nerd that wasn’t quit...well, as he phrases in his poem “Not Black Enough” he now accepts his assembly of gifts and urges others to embrace their purpose likewise.
He has been given immense opportunities to impart his spoken-word poetry from intimate crowds of 10’s to auditoriums of over 1,700.
