Does the man control the mic or does the mic control the man? – Soulheir The Manchild, Mars ILL

That quote is an interesting point that Soulheir makes in this song. My take on it is the man controls the mic and is driven by the passion to spit truth and the artistry of the mic. I think there is a balance there that creatives are able to find where they are able to make dope art that glorifies the Lord. Not always art that is explicitly about Jesus, but is in step with His Word and relays an inspirational message. With this gifting, room is made for us to share what God has given us with the world.

Some are put in positions and places to blatantly preach the gospel. They have a great ability to break down and relay the truth. At some level, we are all called to do that. God has given each of us the ministry of reconciliation. Your place maybe just to share that truth with your next door neighbor. Someone else may literally be sent to reach to the nations like a Ravi Zacharias or Bishop T.D. Jakes. I’m simply speaking on the impact that they have. These are men who travel the world to preach. It doesn’t make them better or more important. Just a different level of responsibility.

They are just as important as the person who witnesses to their neighbor or to their coworker. We all have a responsibility to touch and go. We are sent to places or cross paths with people to impact their lives. Some it is for a short season. Others it may be for a lifetime. It is important that whether you minister to thousands or to 2 that you take advantage of that time to impact them for the good of the kingdom. God has placed a gift in YOU and YOU are important to His plan.

I recently saw Mali Music in concert. While some criticize him and say he’s gone secular or feel like he’s left the faith, I left feeling encouraged. Even empowered. While methods may change the heart or core of his messages remains. It’s still Jesus. God made music to touch the soul. To speak to our hurts and our pains. It is a tool to not only empathize with that pain, but also to encourage and motivate us to look for a brighter day. To see joy set before us and endure our crosses in this life. Whether we realize it or not, there is someone out there waiting for you to be used by God to touch them so they can go and touch others.

This leads us to our throwback song of the week. It is entitled “Touch and Go” by Mars ILL featuring Sev Statik.  It is off of their 2001 release “Raw Material.” The duo consists of rapper Soulheir The Manchild and DJ Dust. These 2 were also 2 members of the hip hop super group Deepspace 5. This song speaks to how they struggle as emceez to pour their all into their lyrics because they don’t always have a lot of time to spend with the audiences they are in front of. Go check out the song and be sure to listen out for it this week on the Trackstarz broadcast. Check it out and let us know what you think. Until next time…

Peace and blessings.
