Lecrae and The Higher Learning Experience| (@trackstarz @lecrae @jasonbordeaux1)

Lecrae’s Higher Learning tour is coming to its close. Lecrae has been touring around the country stopping at many colleges and other venues to share the gospel and share his perspective of life through his music. During his performances, Lecrae often stopped to discuss different issues and share testimonial experiences. I would like to share with you some of the things he discussed the night I attended the concert.

As mentioned, Lecrae would often stop to engage his audience in conversation. He talked about the change in direction for his music and his history of making music for the “Body of Christ.” He loves doing it, he said. He was apart of a conference with a well known pastor Francis Chan. Chan told Lecrae, “There are 60,000 people inside this building, but there are 6 billion people outside this building. Whose going to do something for them?” This is when Lecrae teamed up with Street Symphony and Don Canon to make “Church Clothes.” After the release,  he was approached by a mother who decided to stop living on the street and live her life for Christ. With these kinds of stories, Lecrae found his new audience. Those who were not familiar with church lingo and seeing the Gospel lived out in front of them.

After Lecrae released “Church Clothes 2,” he said he was done with the series. Don Canon asked him about doing a third installation, but Lecrae said he had said all he needed to say. While Lecrae was overseas sharing the Gospel and the tragic incidents that were occurring here in the states, as well as overseas, he found he had a few more things to say that he would eventually put in “Church Clothes 3.” The album mentions social injustice, gang history, and other topics that are witnessed everyday in America. Here are some of his thoughts on how we should respond.

Lecrae also briefly mentioned his new definition of “Unashamed” for the label. He said when he first started Reach Records and they started the “Unashamed” movement, he started to become very self-righteous. He was looking at his good works and was feeling too prideful. Now it is more about saying “Im weak and I need a Savior.”

Overall the night was a great time for believers to come together and get more motivated to be a witness to those around us. Lecrae and Swoope were directing all the attention to Jesus and were very humble. I was pleased to be amongst a diverse group of people who all appeared to be unashamed of the Gospel.
