Keeping the Faith: DJ Official’s Journey|Blog|@djofficialdj @kennyfresh_1914 @trackstarz

These past few years have been rough for Nelson Chu BKA DJ Official, but his faith in the Lord is as vibrant as ever. From a rare form of cancer causing him to have to retire as DJ for Reach Records in 2014, to his current health complications, Chu has been through a lot. There have been a lot of ups and downs, but his faith and his family have held him down and kept him grounded. Just go to his twitter account and see how he is living. DJ Official had cancer, has a nonfunctioning kidney, and 13% lung function. When doctors said he looked good for 13% lung use, he credits God and his wife who pushed him to get and stay active. At one point they had found a compatible set of lungs for Chu, but upon closer inspection the lungs were too damaged. If you were to scroll through the DJ’s timeline, you would see accounts of him playing Pokemon Go and getting out with family as well as encouraging others. His situation has not only impacted himself but those around him. Some of Nelson’s friends and family have become organ donors due to his situation, and the DJ is happy because it saves lives. July 29th DJ Official announced on twitter that the Hospital found another donor for him a week after the last attempt and he solicited the prayers of the Saints for people in this order: his wife, family, the surgeons, and lastly himself. It’s amazing that as he is on the way to a life changing visit to the hospital, he is still putting others before himself. No tweets have come from DJ Official since the 30th, but I am believing God that the surgery was successful and he is just resting and recovering. I wonder how many of us would still believe in God and even want to live if we were in Official’s shoes. Look at his life and timeline as an example of how to glorify God in the midst of suffering. His situation reminds me of the verse “Though He slay me still I will trust in Him”(Job 13:15), let us keep DJ Official and his family in our prayers.
