“Long ago God spoke to our ancestors in many and various ways by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by a Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, through whom he also created the worlds. He is the reflection of God’s glory and the exact imprint of God’s very being, and he sustains all things by his powerful word. When he had made purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1:1-4‬ ‭NRSV‬‬

Hebrews 1 if you care!

I was listening to the radio and they do a daily segment where they answer questions sent in by email called “Ask Allison.”  Shout out to Allison Seymour and Marc Clarke of WHUR.  The question was from a woman who was struggling with the fact that she’s a Christian and her daughter came out that she was gay.  Of course the woman is struggling with this, because she believes that homosexuality is wrong, but she loves her daughter.

This struck a chord with me, because I’ve had family members who came out with this same thing.  The thing that hit me while listening to them talk about this topic on the radio was that we shouldn’t struggle to love someone when they’re in the midst of their mess.  We at times don’t afford others the same grace and mercy we would like for ourselves.  We want people to be lenient with our mess and harsh on others. I don’t mean justifying sin.  I mean being a light to help others out of their mess and getting them to wholeness.

As Hebrews says that God spoke to our ancestors by the prophets.  Now God speaks to us through His Son Jesus Christ.  Christ is the express image of God Himself sent here to redeem us.  While we still in our sins Christ died for us.  We have been engrafted into His body and made one with Him when we put our faith in the finished work of Christ.  Now we can joyfully be called children of God.  Now we are Christ’s hands and feet here on earth.  We lend our hands to help others and use our feet walk the life or the path that leads them to God.

When we come across others who are living a lifestyle we may not agree with or believe is right it is our opportunity to love them.  Not bash them with Bible verses or our religion, but the love of Christ.  He is the express image of God and now He lives in us.  We can share the glory of God that has been revealed in us with others.  It doesn’t matter who they are, what false thing they may believe in or what kind of lifestyle they live.  Where sin abounds grace abounds even more and God is greater.  We can have joy in sharing our hope we have in the true and living God.

That leads us to our Throwback Theology Song of the Week.  This is from CHH vet Flame out of St. Louis.  The featured track is from his 2008 release entitled “Our World Redeemed.”  This week’s song is called “Joyful Noise” and features Lecrae.  Tune into the Trackstarz radio show this week to hear DJ Jeremaya spin this for the Throwback Theology Song of the Day.  Until next time…

Peace and blessings,
Damo
