“God’s Work” – A Response To Joyner Lucas By Domingo Guyton | @domingoguyton @trackstarz

I’m sure by now many of you have heard the song or seen the video “Devil’s Work” [explicit content] by rapper Joyner Lucas.  And I’m sure many of you have heard the response record by Bizzle called “Devil’s Work (Response To Joyner Lucas).”  Now rapper, Domingo Guyton has dropped a response record as well.  His is entitled “God’s Work” and is different from the Bizzle track.  Bizzle on his track came from the angle of speaking as God to Lucas’ questions in his song.  Guyton comes from a more personal angle and speaks directly to Joyner man to man in his verse.

This is interesting, because Domingo actually has known Joyner Lucas personally for many years.  He doesn’t use this as an opportunity to take any personal digs at Joyner, but to reach out to him as a friend and brother.  Take a look as Domingo gives a little background on his relationship with Joyner.  Also, keep in mind that we are all given opportunities to connect with people from all different types of backgrounds and different levels of status.  Who they are as a celebrity or what they have is not the important thing.  It’s important that we give them what we have and share the love of Christ to minister to their soul.  Check out these words from Domingo and also his response track.

“Joyner Lucas and I have had a relationship for a few decades. His father and I did some earlier work together (1995) including putting a track together for him around 1999, which I still have and it has never been released. He was about 12 at the time. I helped write two grants for the Worcester Youth Center between 2005-2007 and Joyner was the number 1 winner of both of the open mic contests, in which he was featured on Get Off The Block projects. Joyner produced two tracks on my album The Journey to Christ in 2009 and he really began to go hard in what he has been doing from that point. I turned my life over to the Lord in 2004 and he went his way. We have stayed connected for some time now and his fame has never stopped him for communicating with me.

Joyner hit me in April about a new song he was writing about why God takes the good people and leaves the horrible ones behind. I sent him a host of scriptures and in two days he sent the track to me titled Devil’s Work, said he was shooting the video the next day at the church and I encouraged him to do a part 2, call it God’s Work and use the scriptures I sent him. Long story short, after talking with him about it, he sent me the beat and was interested in what I would put down. I know he has listened to it a few times, including while I was at his house on Memorial Day weekend. I love my brother and will continue to pray that the Lord penetrates his heart, as far as the Gospel is concerned.”
